    Why redesign projects fail

Many website redesigns start with a visual request: "make it look modern." But the real issue may be slow pages, weak SEO structure, poor conversion flow, outdated content, technical debt or a CMS that blocks maintenance.

Before redesigning screens, identify the actual constraint.

    Three redesign scenarios

    Visual refresh

Choose a visual refresh when the platform is healthy, pages load fast, SEO structure is stable and the main issue is brand presentation.

    Technical modernization

Choose modernization when performance, security, maintainability, Core Web Vitals, structured data or publishing workflows are the problem.

    Full rebuild

Choose a full rebuild when design, content, information architecture, SEO, CMS and infrastructure all need change at the same time.

    SEO migration checklist

    • Keep high-value URLs stable when possible.
    • Map old URLs to new URLs with 301 redirects.
    • Preserve canonical tags and metadata intent.
    • Validate sitemap and robots rules.
    • Recheck structured data.
    • Monitor Search Console after launch.

    GEO considerations

Answer engines need clear, extractable page content. Service pages should explain who the service is for, what is delivered, how the process works and what decisions buyers must make.
