    Start with the use case

    Mobile apps are valuable when the product needs device capabilities, repeat usage, push notifications, offline behavior, location, camera, payments or a dedicated customer experience.

    If the use case is mostly informational, a responsive website or PWA may be enough.

    Technical checklist

    • Does the app need iOS, Android or both?
    • Will it be native or cross-platform?
    • Is there an existing backend?
    • Are push notifications required?
    • Are payments handled in-app or externally?
    • Are App Store and Google Play accounts ready?
    • Is offline behavior needed?
    • How will analytics and crash reporting work?

    Business checklist

    • Who will maintain the app after launch?
    • What is the release approval process?
    • Who owns store credentials?
    • What support channel will users use?
    • What monthly backend and maintenance cost is acceptable?

    React Native and Expo considerations

    Cross-platform frameworks can reduce duplication, but native dependencies, SDK updates and store policies still require planning.
